ANM (Naples)

Azienda Napoletana Mobilità SpA (English: Neapolitan Mobility Company, or Mobility Company of Naples), more commonly known simply as ANM, is a municipally controlled public company that is the primary provider of surface public transportation in the city of Naples, Italy, and also provides a portion of the surface transit service in surrounding municipalities. Underground and non-surface modes of public transit, such as metro and funiculars, are operated by other entities. ANM is a subsidiary of the municipal government.〔Webb, Mary (ed.) (2009). ''Jane's Urban Transport Systems 2009-2010'', pp. 190–191. Coulsdon, Surrey (UK): Jane's Information Group. ISBN 978-0-7106-2903-6.〕
ANM was formed on 1 July 1995〔Isgar, Carl (Nov.-Dec. 2008). "In the Shadow of Vesuvius - Part 1". ''Trolleybus Magazine'' No. 282, pp. 122–129. National Trolleybus Association (UK). ISSN 0266-7452.〕 through a reorganization of its predecessor, the ''Azienda Tranvie Autofilovie Napoli'' (ATAN) (English: Naples Tramway-Bus-Trolleybus Company), which was also a municipal authority. ANM became a joint-stock company (SpA in Italian) on 30 March 2001.〔
The company operates three tram lines (see Trams in Naples), six trolleybus lines (see Trolleybuses in Naples) and around 140 motorbus routes. The operating fleet includes approximately 50 trams, 63 trolleybuses (with 24 more in storage) and 1,000 diesel buses.〔 ANM also operated four municipally owned funiculars until 2001, when responsibility for their operation was transferred to then-newly created Metronapoli,〔 another municipally owned company and operator of the Naples Metro.〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=MetroNapoli SpA )〕 However, in November 2013 all of Metronapoli's operations, including the Naples Metro, were absorbed by Azienda Napoletana Mobilità.
ANM provides some bus service to areas outside the city of Naples proper (''Comune di Napoli''). However, most suburban bus service is provided by other companies, mainly CTP, which until 2008 was half-owned by the city of Naples and half by the Province of Naples〔 but has been fully owned by the province since August 2008.〔''Trolleybus Magazine'' No. 283 (January-February 2009), p. 18.〕
ANM's service includes both express and local bus service connecting Naples' main airport, Capodichino Airport, with the city center and Napoli Centrale railway station (at Piazza Garibaldi). The express service is called ''Alibus''.
As of 2005, total annual patronage (boardings) on the ANM system was approximately 175 million.〔
